THE NARROW WAY When Jesus spoke of the narrow way, he was referring to the paths of righteousness and obedience to God’s commands. Following these paths leads to salvation. In Matthew (7:13-14), Jesus says, “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.” Jesus here is warning us that the path that is easy and comfortable may lead to destruction, and only the narrow path of righteousness and obedience to God’s commands will lead to life. In essence, this means that being a follower of Christ requires sacrifice and discipline. We must deny ourselves of worldly pleasures and temptations and focus on the spiritual aspects of life. This doesn't mean we can't enjoy the earthly pleasures and possessions, but it does mean that our focus must be on God and His commands and standards for our lives. T...
